The harvesting and vinification processes involve a combination of mechanical and traditional harvest, utilizing the latest generation of sorting tables and concrete vats. During the 16-month ageing process, 70% of the wine is aged in new barrels, while the remaining 30% is in previously used French oak barrels.

Wine Enthusiast 90 point: From vines on the plain below the town of Saint-Emilion, the wine is rich, chocolate and spice flavored. Behind the structure lie fresh black fruits and some solid tannins. The wine is likely to be ready in 2025. — Roger Voss
The Brun family acquired Chateau Belle Assise Coureau in the 19th century.
In 2013, it was purchased by a group of friends led by the late Jean Pierre Beltoise, a former Formula 1 race car driver and winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, and Alain Garitey, a lawyer from Paris. Lionel Gallais manages the estate, and under his direction, Paul Junet, a young winemaker from Saint-Emilion, is tasked with unlocking the full potential of the vineyard.
The Château de Belle-Assise Coureau is not just a vineyard; it's a strategically located masterpiece. Nestled on a gentle sandy slope to the south of the limestone plateau of St-Emilion, the 15,5-hectare vineyard surrounding the chateau is planted on ancient sands crossed by underground gravel veins. This unique location allows the Merlot and Cabernet Franc, averaging 35 years of age, to express their qualities, creating a truly one-of-a-kind wine.
The vines benefit from the area's unique soil, which includes various limestone, gravel, and ancient sand compositions. This soil, combined with the ideal sun exposure and protection from the Dordogne River, allows the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties to flourish.
