Chateau L'Inclassable 2016 at home with food

This wine will be available in late March.

Château L’Inclassable 2016 – Médoc, Bordeaux

A Great Wine Born of Hard Years and a Generous Harvest

In Bordeaux, 2016 isn’t just a good year. It’s one of those once-in-a-decade vintages that wine lovers remember. For the team at Château L’Inclassable, it was more than that — it was a lifeline.

After losing nearly everything to hail in 2014 and again to frost in 2017, this small family-owned estate in the Médoc had no guarantees. But when nature finally smiled in 2016, they poured everything — skill, patience, and hope — into crafting a wine worthy of their name.

And it shows.

A Bold, Elegant Médoc with a Signature Twist

What makes this wine stand out isn’t just the vintage — it’s the character. Petit Verdot, the estate’s secret weapon, makes up a remarkable 28% of the blend — a much higher share than usual and a reflection of its superb quality in 2016.

🍇 Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petit Verdot, 12% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
🍷 Alcohol: 13% | Aging: 12 months in 400L French oak barrels
🌱 Average vine age: 40 years | Harvest: Manual

Tasting Notes

  • Color: Dense purple-garnet

  • Nose: Intense bouquet of ripe red berries, graphite, pepper, and violet

  • Palate: Juicy and full-bodied with flavors of blueberry, black cherry, licorice, and spice

  • Finish: Long, smooth, and structured with velvety tannins and elegant balance

This is a wine of depth and emotion — rich, grounded, and unashamedly Médocain.

What the Critics Are Saying

James Suckling (90–91 pts):

"A dense and juicy red with blueberry, cherry, and spice character. Medium-bodied with a ripe, fruity finish. Needs to be tamed."

Bettane & Desseauve (89 pts):

"Elegant nose of ripe red fruits, flint, purple flowers, very aromatic and fleshy palate with freshness. All in elegance."

Gault & Millau (16–17/20):

"Black fruits with a little spice. A well-structured wine with tannin."

La Revue du Vin de France:

Selected as "Best Wine of the 2016 Vintage" (15–16/20):
“Its spicy and peppery notes are a treat, and the fruit is fresh, with nice length.”

An Independent Spirit, Bottled

More than just a wine, Château L’Inclassable 2016 is a tribute to endurance. With a name born from legal battles, and a soul shaped by nature’s extremes, this is a bottle that reminds us why independent estates matter — and why great wine is always worth the wait.

Every bottle is sealed with a DIAM cork, used by top Grands Crus and designed to be TCA-free for up to 30 years of aging potential. No risk of cork taint — just pure enjoyment.
