Bordeaux Medoc Chateau l'Inclassable 2016.

Tasting notes: Dense purple garnet. Intense bouquet paired with black pepper and licorice. A dense and juicy red with blueberry, cherry, and spice character and a pleasantly long finish.

The Petit Verdot share in this year's blend is 28% (higher than ever). Alcohol 13% volume.

The Chateau l'Inclassable is classified as Médoc and is made up of a blend of grape varieties, including 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petit Verdot, 12% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.

Some great food options to pair with include steak, grilled fish, meatloaf, lamprey in Bordeaux style, stews, and cheese platters.

The average age of the vines is 40 years. Harvest: Manuel. Aged for 12 months in 400 liters wood barrel.

Comment from the Producer:

At the Chateau L'inclassable, we lost 95% of the harvest after the hail in 2014 and 90% due to the frost in 2017. We had to accept these risks, but it might be too much for our small vineyard.

We know we have problems, but we are convinced that good wine, L'Inclassable in particular, can make you forget all the problems and bring us a moment of conviviality.

In 2016, nature offered a great vintage in Bordeaux, especially for us. As a result of the excellent harvest of our Petit Verdot, Chateau L'Inclassable 2016 has a larger share (28%) than other vintages. The flavor of ripe red fruits prevails with a hint of spice. The velvety tannins bring extreme pleasure. Just enjoy!

James Suckling 90-91 points

"A dense and juicy red with blueberry, cherry, and spice character. Medium body and a ripe, fruity finish. Needs to be tamed."

Bettane et Desseauve 89 points

"Elegant nose of ripe red fruits, flint, purple flowers, very aromatic and fleshy palate with freshness. All in elegance."

Gault et Millau 16-17 points out of 20 points

"Black fruits with a little spice. A well-structured wine with tannin."

La Revue du Vin de France selected it as "the best wine of the vintage 2016" and gave it 15-16 points!

"Its spicy and peppery notes are a treat, and the fruit is nice and fresh, with nice length."

The Chateau l'Inclassable uses the DIAM cork process, guaranteeing that each closure is free of TCA. DIAM cork is designed for Grand Crus, which can last up to 30 years.

TCA stands for 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (corked wine, bouchonné), a chemical so powerful that even in tiny amounts, it can cause musty aromas and flavors in wines. TCA taint poses no health concerns for wine drinkers and can ruin a wine. At higher levels, it makes a wine smell moldy or musty, like cardboard, damp cement, or wet newspapers. At its worst, the wine is undrinkable.
